John Knox letter, 1843.

The collection consists of a two-page autograph letter signed by John Knox, dated "Augusta, Ga. December 11th 1843" and to his brother James N. Knox of the Chester District, South Carolina. The letter is a personal letter discussing family matters - the death of their mother, John's lack of money, and James' difficulties with the family's land. Although John does not directly give his reasons for being in Augusta, he is a student, probably at the Medical College of Georgia.
